Seeing Through the Illusion
As I was searching for bloggers who write on spirituality this past week I came upon Christine Horner’s blog on consciousness. She spoke about ‘separation consciousness’ and ‘lifting the veil.’ “Separation consciousness is the belief that we are separate from one another, our environment and even God. Separation consciousness is the veil itself.” This struck a chord within me as I’ve continued to see the disconnecting patterns of duality consciousness in fear/love, competition/cooperation, scarcity/abundance, us/them, science/spirituality and the list goes on and on……
This dualistic operating system works well for sifting and sorting things but when it comes to people, interactions, collaborations and living together in peaceful harmony with our environment and one another, it gets in the way. The new arising in our consciousness is the move from the illusory thought of individualized separate selves to the inner knowing of our interconnectivity and unitive consciousness with the whole of creation. Reconnect with what if feels like to be ‘in the flow‘ with another person, with an animal, with a body of water, with with your inner self and your body. Feel it…..
This reflection took me back to a song John Lennon wrote decades ago that’s more compelling today than when he wrote it. It’s a universal message that comes through a kind and gentle spirit. It’s a clarion call to see through the illusion of separation and division into imagining, creating and living into a world of peace, love and harmony everyday with every breath. It’s a call to dream it, practice it, teach it, sing it, dance it, share it, create it with everyone you meet because at a higher altitude we are all One.
“Imagine there’s no heaven, it’s easy if you try; no hell below us, above only sky. Imagine all the people living for today. Imagine there’s no countries, it isn’t hard to do; nothing to kill or die for and no religion too. Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will be as one. Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can? No need for greed or hunger, a brotherhood of Man. Imagine all the people sharing all the world. You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will be as one. . .”
- Allow yourself to imagine no separation consciousness. Play at seeing everyone as a projection of you. Play at getting along with this other you by awakening your gentle spirit to send loving kindness all ways and every where. Practice this daily.
- Imagine no frames or boundaries between you and your environment, between you and other beings. Treat all beings with love and respect as you recognize your treatment of these relations is your treatment of you. Deeply contemplate this reality.
